Dancer and the Horse

Mixed media installation with bronze castings
16’x8’x7’ (dimensions variable)
2008

This piece is the narrated story of the two characters from the title.

Dancer and the horse
drink tea in the chariot
out of dust-covered china cups
traversing the cold, desolate plain
to the yellow flame
to the dark breast
to the earth and sky of your country

It adopts a few lines from Pablo Neruda.  The dancer’s shoes and crown are cast bronze, as is the horse’s pomegranate.
